Terrell Burden sets assist record in Kennesaw State loss

Kennesaw State guard Terrell Burden had a team-high 21 points and three assists, establishing a school Division I record for assists in a season, but the Owls dropped an 84-72 decision at Stenson on Saturday.

Burden has 182 assists on the season, breaking the previous mark of 180 set by Golden Ingle in the 2006-07 season.

Simeon Cottle added 18 points for Kennesaw, which fell to 15-14, 6-9 Atlantic Sun. Demond Robinson had 13 points and Quincy Ademokoya added 12 points.

Kennesaw State fought through foul trouble. Stetson was 27-of-37 from the free-throw line , while Kennesaw sent 9-of-15.

Kennesaw State had won five straight in the all-time series against Stetson. The Owls won the first meeting between the teams this season, 88-70 in Kennesaw in January. Stetson (18-11, 10-4) has since gone 10-3 since to take over second place in the Atlantic Sun conference.

The Owls close out the regular season on Friday at Queens in Charlotte.
