Inactives: Falcons at Saints

Falcons left guard Andy Levitre, who’s fighting back from a triceps injury, was declared inactive for Sunday’s game against the Saints.

Ben Garland will start in his place.

Levitre, who had started 140 consecutive games, suffered a partially torn left triceps injury early in the Dec. 3 game against the Vikings, and Garland started in his place against the Saints and Bucs – both wins.

Levitre planned on returning against the Saints. Levitre was practicing with tape on his left arm and shoulder and a brace all last week.

“No. I’m doing alright,” he said of his arm when asked if he had any pain or discomfort or if he was limited in any way on Thursday. “It’s the same old, same old. I’ve been in meetings and obviously I’ve missed some time practice-wise, but I’ve been in it mentally. I know what’s been going on. I’m not planning on missing a beat.”

Coach Dan Quinn and offensive line coach Chris Morgan must have decided that Levitre couldn’t play with a weaken left arm.
