Georgia Tech guard Justin Moore will travel with the team and dress for the remainder of the season, coach Josh Pastner said Monday. Moore’s first game back in uniform will be Wednesday against Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla.

Pastner said that, barring academic matters, “he’ll be with us the rest of the way through.”

Moore did not travel with the team to North Carolina. He has not dressed for a game since the Yellow Jackets’ loss to Wright State Dec. 22. Since then, Moore missed two games when he stayed home in San Diego over Christmas break for the funeral of a family friend, did not dress for the next three home games, did not travel with the team to Pittsburgh and then was not in the arena for the team’s game against Virginia last Thursday.

Pastner said that Moore was dealing with “a personal issue.” and that it was Moore’s decision, while practicing and healthy, to not dress or travel.

It does not appear that Moore is in line to get much playing time, if any. Pastner made clear that the rotation has been established and later added that, while he wants to reduce minutes for center Ben Lammers and guard Josh Okogie, the playing load for starting point guard Jose Alvarado, who is ahead of Moore and averaging 38.4 minutes in seven ACC games, will remain as high.

Moore, a sophomore, played 47 minutes in the team’s first two games of the season but has played a total of 63 minutes in six games since. He has seven points, 10 assists and seven rebounds in 110 minutes of play. Moore played 34 games last season, starting 18, and had the second most assists on the team (81) behind starting point guard Josh Heath.
