Pranksters in costume have fun with wildlife cameras

Authorities in Kansas set up motion-activated trail cameras after reports of mountain lions in a park, but their cameras instead captured some very odd images.

The images were discovered Monday by the Gardner Police Department and posted on Facebook. Mixed in with images of real wildlife, like skunks, raccoons and a coyote, are images of people dressed in animal costumes and a person wearing a Santa Claus costume.

The police want to locate the pranksters who were caught on camera, but not because they are in trouble for doing anything wrong.

“We would like to sincerely thank the persons responsible as it made our day when we pulled up what we expected to be hundreds of pictures of coyotes, foxes and raccoons,” police said. “Thank you to the citizens who noticed the cameras. Your effort and sense of humor are greatly appreciated.”

No mountain lions were found, according to The Associated Press.
