A man photographed in Roswell allegedly stole several Jon Ossoff campaign signs and police say he’s facing theft charges — if he’s identified.

The woman who watched him pull up signs along Grimes Bridge Road asked that Channel 2 Action News not show her face because she fears retaliation.

“I saw him maybe pick up three or four from people's yards and another three signs from the roundabout,” she told the news station.

The man told her he believed he had a legal right to remove the U.S. Congressional 6th District voting signs.

Another viewer sent Channel 2 pictures of Ossoff signs ripped in half and strewn around a yard.

John Frisbie told Channel 2 he supports Ossoff’s Republican opponent, Karen Handel, and spent quite a bit of time going door to door handing out campaign signs in his neighborhood.

Frisbie said he worked hard to put out 15 signs that had all disappeared when he went outside in the morning.

“We have a right to say who we're for,” Frisbie said.

Jessica W., an Ossoff supporter who lives in the Marietta-East Cobb part of the district, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution she’s had signs ripped up repeatedly.

“I have now lost eight Ossoff signs, as every time I put them out in my yard someone steals them within 24 hours or rips them up and leaves them there,” she said. “Karen Handel signs are abundant.”

The thefts and vandalism incidents are crimes. Police arrested a Woodstock man last month on charges of campaign sign theft.

Ossoff, a Democrat, is headed for a June 20 runoff against Handel after falling short of an upset victory in a nationally watched special election to replace Tom Price.

Price vacated the seat when he was tapped to be President Donald Trump’s health secretary.
