East Rutherford, N.J. -- The glamorous life of the sports correspondent. Left Sanford Stadium last night at 9:10 p.m. Pulled in the garage at the ol' homestead at 11 p.m. Left the same garage at 6:35 a.m. Landed in Newark at 10:48. Walked into the press box at 11:48 after a brisk stroll around the periphery of MetLife Stadium. (My cab driver wasn't allowed to get close to the designated media gate.)
But enough about me. This is a fairly significant game for the evolving Falcons, which sounds nicer that saying "the depleted Falcons." They're down three offensive linemen, as you know, and they're without strong safety William Moore, and they're playing in the stadium where they managed only a layup when last they were here. (Wild-card game, January 2012. Giants won 24-2.)
That said, I'm not sure the Giants are anything special. They lost their first two games and looked horrid doing it. They won their next two and looked better, duh, but it's worth noting that Arizona won here two weeks ago 25-14. The Cardinals, however, can play some defense. The Atlanta Falcons are ranked next-to-last in the NFL in that category.
But enough from me. I'm going to eat a sandwich and fuss with my windblown hair, and then I'm going to regale you with travel stories until somebody wins. (Kidding about the travel stories. They get old quick.) I invite you to ride along, and I thank you, as ever, in advance.
