For the second day in a row, Atlanta came close to a record high, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The record, set in 1986, was 78 degrees. Atlanta hit 75.

The average high this time of year is 58 degrees, Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

“In fact, the five-day forecast keeps temperatures in the mid- to upper 70s through the end of the week and into Saturday,” Nitz said. “We’ll be near or above record highs each day.”

And “all data points to warmer weather through early March,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.

Currently, it’s 73 degrees in Atlanta.

The next chance of rain is tonight. There is a 30 percent chance of scattered showers through about 11 p.m., Channel 2 reported.

Fog was a problem Tuesday, and conditions Wednesday morning are expected to be cloudy, Channel 2 Chief meterologist Glenn Burns said. Wednesday morning will be warm with temps in the mid-60s.

The rest of the week looks unseasonably warm, too, Burns said.

But afterward, the metro area can expect closer to average temperatures.
