People planning to attend some of the big events Saturday in metro Atlanta should find the weather in their favor.

“Today is going to be your best day for outdoor plans” this weekend, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

By 6 p.m., the temp should be 69 on the way to a high of 71, Monahan said. That’s above the average of 67 for the date.

About 4:50 p.m., the temp was 68.

That makes getting to the March for Our Lives, the Atlanta Auto Show or the NCAA Tournament basketball game at Philips Arena much easier.

“There will be a decent amount of sunshine pushing temperatures up to the 60s and 70s” on Saturday, Monahan said.

But the weather is expected to take a turn for Sunday.

Rain is expected overnight, and Sunday’s expected high of 61 should be reached early in the day. Temps likely will fall through the afternoon. Rain chance is at 60 percent.

“Don’t put away the winter coat just yet,” Monahan said. “You might need it.”
