Atlanta United players Brad Guzan, Miguel Almiron and Tito Villalba received international call-ups for the upcoming FIFA window, the team announced Monday. The window is Oct. 8-16 with all three players available for selection for Saturday’s game against New England.
Guzan will join the U.S. Men’s National Team for upcoming friendlies. Almiron and Villalba will join the Paraguay for a training camp.
Guzan has started 30 matches for Atlanta United this season with 18 victories. He has 76 saves for a 1.17 goals against average with eight shutouts. Guzan has 58 caps for the United States with his last appearance a World Cup qualifying match at Honduras on Sept. 5, 2017.
Almiron and Villalba were both called up by Paraguay’s new head coach Juan Carlos Osorio for his team’s first selection. Almiron, who appeared in a friendly against the United States in March, has 12 goals and 14 assists this season. His assist total is tied for sixth in MLS. Villalba earned his first-ever call-up to La Albirroja after completing a one-time switch from Argentina earlier this year. Villalba, whose father was born in Paraguay, has seven goals and eight assists this season. Paraguay does not have any friendlies scheduled during this international break.
