New England Patriots re-sign LB Jonathan Freeny


Jonathan Freeny is coming back to New England.

The Patriots re-signed the linebacker, the team announced on Wednesday.

Details of the contract were not made known at the time of this post.

Freeny spent the 2015 and 2016 seasons in New England before being released as part of the team’s final cuts in Sept. He then went to the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars this season. The 6-foot-2, 255 pound linebacker appeared in three games for the Ravens.

Freeny began his career in Miami with the Dolphins in 2012.

The sixth-year linebacker gives the Patriots more depth at linebacker and his knows the system having been in New England for a couple seasons.

Freeny has registered 104 and 2 sacks in 65 career games.
