Julio Jones attends workout with Matt Ryan

Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones, who didn’t attend the offseason program nor the team’s mandatory minicamp, was on hand for quarterback Matt Ryan’s passing camp, per Calvin Ridley’s Snapchat post.

Falcons fans and the team’s website quickly retweeted the social media news that included a picture of 11 individuals.

Ridley, the team’s first-round draft pick, was one of those in a photo posted of the workout participants. The location of the workout is unknown. Jones is the picture posted by Ridley, scquating in the first row (second from the right).

In addition to Ridley, Jones and Ryan, tight ends Austin Hooper and Eric Saubert, wide receiver Justin Hardy, Mohamed Sanu, Marvin Hall, Reggie Davis, rookie Russell Gage and assistant equipment manager Kenny Osuwah are in the photo.

The Falcons are set to report for training camp on July 26. Whether Jones has a desired new contract, the cause of his holdout, and attends remains to be seen.

The Falcons expected Jones to take part in the entire offseason program, but after the market for wide receivers skyrocketed over the offseason, Jones chose to work on his own.

Per the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement, Jones is subject to fines for missing the mandatory minicamp. According to the 2011 agreement, he can be fined a total of $84,435. Once new deals are done, the fines are often waived as a show of good will by the team.

In past offseasons, Ryan has gathered receivers for a passing camp. The workouts were held out of state, usually in Florida. With the birth of twin boys earlier this year, Ryan said that time constraints delayed the camp but that he expected to organize something following the mandatory minicamp in June.

Ryan, who signed a five-year, $150 million contract extension in May, said he expected Jones to attend the workouts.

It now appears Jones did indeed join his teammates.
