Falcons tight end coach Wade Harman is not surprised that one of his former pupils has turned into a nationally televised sports talk-show host.

In 2000-01, Harman was the tight ends coach of the Baltimore Ravens and coached tight end Shannon Sharpe.

A member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Sharpe, who played at Glennville High and Savannah State, is currently starring with Skip Bayless on FS1’s show “Undisputed.”

“He has had the gift (of gab) for a long time,” Harman said. “He’s such a competitor and he was such a smart guy. He worked hard at the game. He understood the game. He really worked at, and he had a lot of knowledge. He was a lot of fun, too. He’s a sharp cat. Yeah, you saw that way back then.”

Harman said Sharpe was entertaining in position-group meetings.

“The fun thing was that he kept that off the field,” Harman said. “When he was on the field he worked his tail off and set a great example for the group.”

Harman was with the Ravens from 1999-2013 and won two Super Bowl titles with the franchise, including one with Sharpe as one of the tight ends. He joined the Falcons’ staff in 2014.
