Falcons running back Devonta Freeman (foot) and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett (ankle) are making progress in their rehabilitation, Falcons coach Dan Quinn said on Thursday before practice.

Freeman did not practice on Wednesday and was listed on the official injury report.

“His foot is sore,” Quinn said about Freeman. “He was able to do some work off to the side (on Wednesday). He’ll probably participate in some of the walk-through today. But with the soreness we are going to see how it responds over the next day and a half. Certainly, he’s frustrated that he’s got the sore foot, but the good news is that it is not something that’s long-term or any re-aggravation of anything that he’s had prior.”

Freeman played in the first game of the season and missed the next three with a bruised knee. He played last week against Pittsburgh.

Jarrett missed the Pittsburgh game after suffering an ankle sprain in the third quarter against the Bengals on Sept. 30.

“He is making big improvement,” Quinn said. “He’s got power to where he can step off and push off. He can get off. He’ll take it a step farther today with the rehab portion. We’ll see how he looks tomorrow and make an assessment Friday.

“I’m very encouraged. He’s definitely closer now than maybe even I thought he’d be. That goes to his will and mindset.”

With Jarrett out, Steelers running back James Conner rushed 21 times for 110 yards and  two touchdowns in the 41-17 loss.
