Freeman to be held out of Falcons’ practice

Quinn said Freeman ‘sore’ knee from hit late in Eagles’ game

Falcons running back Devonta Freeman, who was hit late in the Eagles’ game and has a sore knee, will be held out of practice Wednesday, according to coach Dan Quinn

“Free is sore and we’ll hold him from practice today,” Quinn said. “He got hit in the game, but nothing that’s more than we can treated it goes from day to day.

Wide receiver Russell Gage (knee) and guard Ben Garland (calf) will also miss practice today.

Freeman rushed six times for 36 yards and caught three passes for 14 yards in the 18-12 loss to the Eagles. He also gave up a sack to Eagles linebacker Jordan Hicks while in pass protection.

Freeman played 39 of 70 offensive snaps (56 percent), while Tevin Coleman played 36 of 70 snaps (51 percent).

The Falcons added running back Brian Hill from the practice squad to provide more depth at running back while Freeman recovers.

“We had a roster spot available with Brian and so, we thought we could (add) him and we added some other guys to the practice squad,” Quinn said.
