Falcons sign Shuler, released Polumbus

FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons signed tight end Mickey Shuler and released tackle Tyler Polumbus on Tuesday.

With tight end Jacob Tamme suffering a concussion in the 39-28 win over Dallas, the Falcons were thin at the tight end position. Tamme is in the league’s concussion protocol

The Falcons were down to one tight end on the roster in Levine Toilolo. They had to use fullback Patrick DiMarco as the backup tight end against the Cowboys. Tight end Marcel Jenson is on the practice squad.

Shuler, 6-foot-4, 247 pounds, was drafted by the Vikings in the seventh round (214th overall) of the 2010 draft. He was signed to the Falcons practice squad on September 1, 2013 where he spent the 2013 season.

Polumbus, 6-foot-8, 308 pounds, was signed by the Falcons on May 14, 2015 after being cut by the Washington Redskins.

Shuler was with the Falcons during training camp and is familiar with the system.
