Falcons punter Bosher (hamstring) sits out practice

Falcons punter Matt Bosher is not practicing today because of a right hamstring injury.

Coach Dan Quinn did not mention Bosher’s injury during his media session earlier today. But Bosher, who also handles kickoffs, presumably was hurt injury the victory against the Panthers on Sunday.

With Bosher’s status in question, the Falcons signed punter/kicker Michael Palardy to the practice squad this week. Palardy has not played in a regular-season NFL game and most recently was with the Browns.

Parlardy, who kicks left-footed, handled punts, field goals and kickoffs as a senior at the University of Tennessee in 2013. Coaches voted Palardy second-team All-SEC as a kicker that season.

Bosher has punted 27 times this season with averages of 44.1 yards gross (ranked 22nd in NFL) and 41.3 yards net (13th). He’s placed eight punts inside the 20-yard line, had one touchback and had four punts returned for a total of 16 yards.

Tavecchio’s in town to kick it around

Giorgio Tavecchio has been here and done that before, so it’s not like he’s new as the Falcons kicker except that, well, yeah, he’ll be very new as the Falcons kicker in Monday night’s game against the Giants because his first time didn’t really count. When he lines up to kick field goals and extra points in Mercedes-Benz...

Oluokun turning sights and sounds into tackles

No confetti fell and there were no balloons nor kazoos Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, but Foyesade Oloukun’s breakout party happened even if you didn’t notice, and the Falcons plan to let their rookie linebacker keep making noise if he keeps hearing so well. He led the way with 10 combined tackles and assists against Tampa Bay (one coming...

Injury report: Sanu back to practice, plans to play

Falcons wide receiver Mohamed Sanu returned to practice Saturday, and he and coach Dan Quinn expect him to play Monday night against the Giants as his injured hip continues to improve. Sanu, who missed practices earlier in the week, has scored a touchdown or pulled in more than 100 yards worth of receptions in four consecutive games.  He missed...

Julio Jones is happy to do double duty

For Julio Jones, it seemed like Fun Friday as we learned more than usual about the Falcons’ wide receiver, perhaps because his weekly media conclave was bereft of questions about red-zone targets or touchdowns not scored, and he got a chance to chat about his secret passion: bringing the wood. It was Jones, after all, who on the final play of...
Falcons looking for more fumbles
Falcons looking for more fumbles

When it comes right down to it, the Falcons are not forcing enough fumbles to make themselves happy, which is easy to understand considering they’ve forced an opponent to put the football on the ground once in seven games. And they didn’t recover that one.  Good thing Demontae Kazee’s around. The second-year safety has three...
