Falcons expecting 60,000 for practice at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Proceeds to benefit Super Bowl Host Committee's capital improvement project

The Falcons are expecting a huge turnout for their Sunday practice at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which is open to public.

The team charged $5 per person for the 12:30 p.m. practice, with the proceeds benefiting the Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee's capital improvement project. Super Bowl 53 will played Feb. 3, 2019, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

There will be a noon ceremony to open the stadium’s roof.

“The practice down at the stadium on Sunday, so to hear that 60,000 want to respond to come see the team at practice, that’s sending a message and I want to send it right back to them,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said on Friday after the team’s first training camp practice. “They are doing their part and we’re going to hold up our end, too. That lights us up and the team up. We are looking forward to seeing everybody.”

The Falcons open the exhibition season against the New York Jets on Aug. 10 at MetLife Stadium.
