Who Georgia Tech scheduled in nonconference play

Georgia Tech coach Josh Pastner was born Sept. 26, 1977, in Glen Dale, West Virginia. Pastner grew up in Kingswood, Texas, and graduated from the University of Arizona. Pastner was introduced as Tech's men's basketball coach April 8, 2016. Tech won 21 games in Pastner's first season, which ended with a loss in the NIT final. Georgia Tech revealed its full nonconference schedule for men’s basketball Tuesday.

In addition to previously announced games against Georgia and Northwestern, the Yellow Jackets will face Tennessee in Knoxville and St. John’s in the Hoophall Miami Invitational.

Tech will open its season Nov. 9 against Lamar at McCamish Pavilion. After that the Jackets go on the road to face Tennessee four days later and return home for consecutive games against East Carolina, Texas-Rio Grande Valley and Prairie View A&M.

The Jackets will face Northwestern in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge on Nov. 28. The game against St. John’s comes before consecutive home games against Florida A&M, Gardner-Webb, Georgia, Kennesaw State and South Carolina-Upstate lead into the ACC schedule.

Tech will schedule an additional nonconference game for after ACC play begins, with the opponent and date to be determined. The complete schedule – including ACC games, times and TV assignments will be announced in late August or early September, Tech said.
