WATCH Georgia TE Charlie Woerner sounds off on social media, alternate jerseys

ATHENS — Georgia tight end Charlie Woerner was a big part of the game plan in the College Football Playoffs last season, and no one can say for sure what would have happened had he not suffered a broken leg against Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl.

Woerner had three caches for 21 yards against the Sooners — all in the first half of the Rose Bowl — before suffering a broken fibula.

Could he have made the difference in the national title game loss to Alabama?

At least one Georgia football coach said he during the season that he thought the injury pivotal, but Woerner doesn’t spend much time playing the what-if game.

Further, the 6-foot-5, 245-pound junior doesn’t spend much time worrying about what anyone outside of his family, team, school and business network is saying about him.

On Wednesday, Woerner explained why he chooses not to take part in any social media and believes it would be healthy for some of his teammates do follow his lead.

The No. 5-ranked Bulldogs (8-1, 6-1 SEC) play host to No. 24 Auburn (6-3, 3-3) at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Sanford Stadium (TV: ESPN, Radio: WSB 750 AM, 95.5 FM).

Woerner figures to once again be a big part of the game plan, though it’s not yet known how much of that will be in a blocking or receiving role. He has six catches for 94 yards including a 35-yarder in the 36-17 win over Florida.

Woerner said Auburn is right there with Florida when it comes to the chippy nature of the game, but it’s clear he respects the Tigers.

The Bulldogs tight end said “moving those guys on the (Auburn) D-Line” will be the biggest challenge on Saturday, and he also shared  thoughts on his favorite color for an alternate jersey (not black) and what needs to happen for Georgia to get better in its goal line offense.
