Georgia Tech has filled three of the four recruiting staff positions that are being paid for through a fundraising challenge, two of them by former Yellow Jackets players.

Former Tech quarterback Tevin Washington and former Tech defensive back Thomas Balkcom have been named associate directors in the team’s player-personnel department. Washington had served as a grad assistant for coach Paul Johnson for the past two seasons after starting 31 consecutive games for the Jackets from 2010-12. Balkcom, who played on Tech’s 1990 national championship team, has 28 years of coaching experience at the high school, college and NFL levels, most recently at Ridgeland-Hardeeville High in Ridgeland, S.C.

The third addition to the recruiting office is digital content producer Ryan Wise, who will oversee production of recruiting videos and other digital content. He previously was a video production specialist at Liberty University.

“Thomas, Tevin and Ryan are all great additions to our recruiting operations,” Johnson said in a statement. “Thomas and Tevin will offer great perspective as former players, coaches and, of course, Georgia Tech alums. Ryan brings a lot of experience in video production and will be critical in helping us tell our story to recruits and fans alike.”

Tech also announced Tuesday the addition of two graduate assistants, Trey Money and Nick Newsome. Money previously was a student assistant and GA at Appalachian State, working with new defensive coordinator Nate Woody. Money will assist with the inside linebackers. Newsome coached most recently at Capital University, where quarterbacks and B-backs coach Craig Candeto was head coach 2013-15. He will help coach quarterbacks and B-backs.
