Former Georgia Tech cornerback Step Durham beat considerable odds to earn a spot on the Kansas City Chiefs’ offseason roster.

Durham was one of 43 players to come to the Chiefs’ rookie mini-camp this past weekend on a tryout basis, and made enough of an impression on team officials that they signed him Monday as an undrafted free agent. The Chiefs have signed at least two other tryout players. One, coincidentally, is a cornerback from Jacksonville like Durham – Malik Reaves of Villanova.

Durham, who was a two-year starter with the Yellow Jackets, joins former Tech kicker Harrison Butker on the Kansas City roster.

Durham is one of eight former Yellow Jackets who either signed undrafted free-agent contracts or were offered tryouts.
