5-star RB commit John Emery Jr. has plan in place for his next UGA visit

John Emery Jr.-UGA football-Georgia football-UGA football recruiting

John Emery Jr. has a pretty good idea of when he will be in Sanford Stadium again. It will also mark his first trip to see the Bulldogs play a game in Athens, too.

It sounds timely. That trip will even intersect with a planned official visit for 4-star Texas safety Lewis Cine, too. Cine is one of Georgia’s top remaining targets. Rian “Trouble” Davis, another strong UGA commit, has also told DawgNation that he plans to be in town to make sure that visit for Cine stands out.

Emery’s father told DawgNation on Wednesday that his son plans to be in Athens right now for the Tennessee game.

The 5-star RB has seemingly pumped out a new highlight reel every two quarters so far during his senior season. The nation’s No. 2 RB on the 247Sports Composite also ranks as the nation’s No. 26 overall prospect for 2019.

But that’s won’t be his only trip to Athens this year.

Emery also plans a return visit to UGA for his official visit after the season. That agenda also aligns with the standard operating procedure for  Kirby Smart’s recruiting class. The Bulldogs usually welcome a large gathering of long-standing commits for each cycle in early December.

That helps create the momentum for the new early signing period that falls in December. It also gives the staff a better environment to hang out with recruits when not saddled with the possibility of winning a big late game against the likes of an Auburn or a Georgia Tech in Sanford Stadium.

A great number of the Bulldog pledges for 2019 have told DawgNation they plan to take their officials to UGA not for a specific game, but after the 2018 season.

Emery and his Destrehan Wildcats are currently 2-0 on the year. He’s led his teams to 41-15 and 31-3 wins in 2018.

The Times-Picayune and Nola.com currently credit him with 34 carries for 354 yards along his senior season. His six touchdown gallops have covered distances for 11, 14, 24, 44, 55 and 57 yards.

That’s a good start to his senior season. Emery missed the second half of last season with a broken wrist.

While this stats do stand out, it was maybe what the 5-star prospect did on a play in which he did not score which has garnered the most attention so far this year.

It seems like that running back stable for assistant Dell McGee in Athens will have another new face to pay close attention to for the 2019 season.
