Georgia Tech B-back KirVonte Benson underwent an MRI Monday after an apparent leg injury in the Yellow Jackets’ loss to South Florida on Saturday.

Results of the MRI will be known on Tuesday, coach Paul Johnson told the AJC in a text message Monday evening.

Benson suffered the injury in the first quarter of Saturday’s game, stepping awkwardly with his left foot on a carry and then took a shot to the left knee as he was tackled. He did not return to the game and was replaced by Jordan Mason.

Last season, his first as a starter, Benson rushed for 1,053 yards and was named second-team All-ACC.
