A day after Georgia Tech’s game against Miami this Saturday was assigned to be played at 7 p.m., its November 17 home game against Virginia was given a 3:30 p.m. kickoff. It will be the third home game this season that won’t kick off in the noon hour, a break from the pattern of the previous two seasons.
The game will be broadcast on regional sports networks, including Fox Sports South in Atlanta.
In 2016 and 2017, the Jackets played a total of 12 Saturday home games. Ten of the 12 started between noon and 1 p.m. It has been a source of frustration for Tech fans, many of whom have loudly expressed their preference for later starts as they provide more time for tailgating.
The Tech-Virginia game could be critical for the ACC Coastal Division championship.
Besides the Virginia and Miami games, the third home game this season that started later in the day was against Clemson, which was a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
