Kenny Cooper returning to play against Pittsburgh

Georgia Tech center Kenny Cooper will play Saturday at Pittsburgh in the ACC opener, coach Paul Johnson said Wednesday following practice. His playing time may be limited behind center Jahaziel Lee, who has moved into the position since Cooper’s foot injury near the end of spring practice.

“We’ll just play it by feel, but he’s going to travel and play for sure,” Johnson said.

Cooper’s return figures to be a help for the Jackets, as he was an effective linemen for the Jackets last year in his first season as a starter.

Cooper returns as Johnson has called for the offensive line to play in a rotation. In last Saturday’s game against South Florida, the starting five of left tackle Zach Quinney, left guard Parker Braun, Lee, right guard Will Bryan and right tackle Andrew Marshall played nearly every offensive snap.

Johnson said that backup guard Brad Morgan will play and that “we’ll see” about offensive tackle Bailey Ivemeyer.

Gary Woodland has been a bomber pilot since he turned pro in 2007. Everything is better when you make putts.” Woodland was in for a carefree evening...
