Jake Fromm’s freshman year at the University of Georgia has soared to incredible heights, as he has guided the Bulldogs to the SEC Championship, Rose Bowl win, and National Championship Game berth.

And while his legacy in Athens is only in the infant stages of its foundation, his legacy at his Houston County High School football program is fully entrenched and may be for a long time to come.

According to Cam Gaskins of WGXA in Macon, Fromm’s high school coach Ryan Crawford said no player wore Fromm’s old No. 11 jersey this season nor used his old locker.

Nobody wore Fromm's No. 11 or sat in his locker this past season for the Bears. Head coach Ryan Crawford: "Until somebody can prove that they're worthy of his legacy, that locker's might just stay vacant." pic.twitter.com/LzznCKQAX6

“Somebody that wears that number at this school is going to be somebody that’s really special and does the things that earn that,” Crawford said. “It may never be that way.”

Fromm had an outstanding career with the Bears before enrolling to Georgia. In four years, he brought the leadership Georgia fans have come to know and threw for 12,816 total yards. That mark was just 261 yards short of the all-time Georgia high school state record, set by Deshaun Watson.

It wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Houston County decides to honor Fromm permanently and retire his number, especially given how the team approached it this season. The No. 11 will certainly become even more meaningful if Fromm and Georgia win the season’s grand finale this coming Monday.

The Bulldogs take on Alabama — where Fromm originally committed — in the National Championship Game in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday night.
