No Jackets selected in NFL draft

The NFL draft ran its 256-pick course without any former Georgia Tech players being selected. The draft ended Saturday evening, leaving Tech’s NFL hopefuls to try to sign with teams as undrafted free agents.

Among them were wide receiver Ricky Jeune and defensive ends Antonio Simmons and KeShun Freeman. The undrafted free agent route has been fruitful for a number of Jackets players in recent history, including defensive backs Isaiah Johnson, Chris Milton and Rod Sweeting, all of whom made NFL rosters after going undrafted.

It is the second time in coach Paul Johnson’s tenure and the fourth time since 2000 that no Tech players were selected. The most recent occurrence was 2013.
