Georgia’s Yante Maten named AP SEC player of the year


Georgia basketball star Yante Maten was named the 2017-18 SEC men’s basketball player of the year by the Associated Press.

The AP released its All-SEC honors on Tuesday, and Maten was revealed as the choice over fellow unanimous first-teamer Grant Williams. Williams beat out Maten for the player of the year in the SEC coaches voting, which also was released on Tuesday.
