Fourth in a series examining Georgia Tech coming out of spring practice.

Going into the summer, Georgia Tech stands at 83 scholarships, with fairly even balance through its classes. For the sake of continued balance, perhaps five incoming freshmen would play this season, leading to a sophomore class next season of 18.

The 17-member senior class is the largest in coach Paul Johnson’s tenure. The senior class was 10 last season (including Andrew Marshall, who redshirted last season and is a senior again), 11 in 2016 (including two walk-ons put on scholarship during their careers), 14 in 2015 and 16 in 2014 and 2013.

They have been smaller because of the result of small signing classes (14 in 2013, for example) and transfers/dismissals.

Two shy of the 85-scholarship limit, Tech has space to add two players or to save for the 2019 signing class, which could then be 19 players.
