The finish line is in sight for Georgia Tech as it pushes through the preseason.

The Yellow Jackets practiced in full pads Thursday, will be in shoulder pads and helmets Friday and then scrimmage Saturday, which will end the camp portion of the preseason. After that, classes will begin Monday and the team will begin preparing for the season opener September 1 against Alcorn State.

“It’s been O.K.,” coach Paul Johnson said. “It’s like everything – it’s like football camp. There’s some that’s good, some that’s not good. We’ve got a lot of work in. We’ve gotten to play a lot.”

Johnson said that the effort has been good as the Jackets have practiced through afternoon practices with temperatures in the low 90’s with high humidity. The Jackets have practiced 13 times in the past 14 days, including Thursday.

“It’s just about getting your body to that level where you can play,” nose tackle Brandon Adams said. “Everybody’s hurting. You’ve just got to push through. It’s always a battle.”
