In the most significant victory for his team this season, Georgia Tech baseball coach Danny Hall earned his 1,000th career win as Yellow Jackets head coach Tuesday night.

Tech defeated No. 6 Auburn 6-4 at Russ Chandler Stadium, improving Hall’s record in 25 seasons at Tech to 1,000-513-1. It was the Jackets’ first win over a top-10 this season in five attempts. They are now 12-8 for the season. Auburn is 19-3.

“It’s not my wins; it’s our wins,” Hall told reporters after the game. “We’ve had a lot of good players here, we’ve had a lot of good coaches, great support from our administrators. It’s about Georgia Tech in my tenure here. That’s the way I look at it.”

The Jackets overcame three errors and a late rally by Auburn, which scored all four of its runs in the final two innings. Starting pitcher Brant Hurter earned the win with five scoreless innings before turning the game over to the bullpen. Center fielder Michael Guldberger delivered the big hit, a three-run home run in the fourth inning that raised the lead to 6-0.

Including his record at Kent State before his hire at Tech, Hall is now 1,208-630-1. That ties him for 31st all-time for wins at the Division I level and seventh among active coaches.

Tech plays Mercer Wednesday night at Russ Chandler before going on the road this weekend for a series at No. 10 N.C. State.
