Jordan Davis was happy on National Signing Day.

He committed to UGA back in November but opted to wait until the traditional first Wednesday to sign his scholarship papers. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound DT from North Carolina ranks as the nation’s No. 29 prospect at his position on the 247Sports Composite rankings.

There was never any doubt about his decision. He wanted to wait but was still all Georgia.

“Of course,” he told DawgNation on Tuesday. “Never changed.”

But he didn’t wait long to send in those papers. Davis told DawgNation he signed his LOI bright and early when he arrived at school.

Davis is seen as a true nose tackle option to eventually man the position filled so well by John Atkins on the defensive front over the last few years in Athens.

The Mallard Creek High standout could also be seen as an offensive tackle prospect given his size and physical ability. He did play quite a lot for his high school team on offense at that position this year.

Davis is seen as a nice pull for second-year Bulldog defensive line coach Tray Scott. Scott first offered Davis when he was still coaching the defensive line at North Carolina.

Those two continued to build upon their relationship from there. Davis felt quite comfortable in Athens earlier this year on his unofficial and official visits.

Davis also ranks as the nation’s No. 425 overall prospect for 2018.

He becomes the 21st signee for the Bulldogs in the 2018 class. Can UGA close with the nation’s top class for 2018? Look for the Bulldogs to do most of their work on that front before noon.

That’s because the Bulldogs are set to hear the following announcements in short order:
