Austin twins both get tryout with Falcons

Former Georgia Tech defensive backs Lance and Lawrence Austin will get their shot at the NFL together, and they won’t even have to leave the state to do it.

The Austin twins, practically inseparable since birth, accepted invitations to attend the Falcons’ rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis, according to their agent, Thomas Hunter. The brothers from Lamar County High can be signed at the end of the three-day mini-camp to the Falcons’ 90-man offseason roster.

The mini-camp will be held in two weekends at the team’s headquarters in Flowery Branch. It’s not a complete surprise that the Falcons had interest. Hunter said that the Falcons had informed him that Lance had done well at the team’s area workout earlier in the draft process.

Overlooked their entire careers due to their size, the Austins will now face the same challenge at the top of the football ladder.
