Georgia football moved up to No. 3 in this week's coaches' poll. The Bulldogs remained at No. 3 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The Bulldogs beat FCS member Austin Peay 45-0 in a game that featured a 10-minute fourth quarter and jumped Ohio State who moved to No. 4.
Governors coach Will Healy made the request to shorten the game and Kirby Smart agreed to it on a hot, steamy afternoon that saw tens of thousands of fans leave Sanford Stadium early.
Alabama, a 51-14 winner over Louisville remained ranked No. 1, and Clemson stayed at No. 2 after its 48-7 win against FCS-level Furman.
The SEC has seven teams ranked in the Top 25 both polls, with Auburn at No. 7, LSU at No. 15, Mississippi State at No. 18, South Carolina at No. 24 and Florida at No. 25.
The league went 13-1, with Auburn and LSU scoring notable non-conference victories against elite completion.
Auburn beat Washington 21-16 in Atlanta, while LSU topped Miami 33-17 in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday night.
Georgia plays at LSU on Oct. 13, and then the Bulldogs play host to Auburn on Nov. 10. The Bulldogs take on the newly ranked Gamecocks this week.

Last season’s Georgia football team opened the season No. 15 and only rose as high as No. 2 in the human polls (AP Top 25, Coaches’ Poll), despite spending two weeks at No 1 according to the College Football Playoff Committee.
