Tennessee has offered its head coaching job to Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, ESPN reported Wednesday night.
The move would be good news for Georgia fans, who were worried UGA assistant Mel Tucker might leave for the Vols’ vacancy. Both Pruitt and Tucker interviewed twice with Tennessee.
Pruitt, 43, was the defensive coordinator at Georgia in 2014 and 2015.
He would follow Butch Jones as Vols coach. Jones was 34-27 overall and 14-24 in SEC play in five seasons at Tennessee.
