Splitter ruled out for Hawks first exhibition game

The Hawks announced that Tiago Splitter has been ruled out for at least Thursday’s exhibition game at the Grizzlies.

The reserve center is listed with a right hamstring strain on the injury report issued late Wednesday afternoon. It is not known when Splitter suffered the injury but he took part in Hawks practice Wednesday. The Hawks also play at the Spurs on Saturday.

As previously reported, Paul Millsap and Jarrett Jack will each miss the first two exhibition games due to right knee rehabilitation.

Following Wednesday’s practice, Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer declined to say whether any other player would be out for the first exhibition game.

Splitter has been returning from hip surgery that ended his campaign after just 36 games last season. He was declared a full go for the starting of training camp last week.

Young getting grasp of Hawks offense ... and those 30-footers

That’s the thing about a 30-footer – they are almost always wide open. Trae Young knows it. Much focus has been – and will be – on Young’s shooting when the NBA regular season begins Wednesday...
