Hawks to sign Jaylen Morris to 10-day contract

The Hawks reached an agreement on a 10-day contract with Jaylen Morris, according to a person with knowledge of the deal. The team plans to sign Morris on Wednesday.

Morris, a 6-foot-5 guard, wasn’t selected in the 2017 draft out of Molloy College of NCAA Division II. He’s played 39 games for the Hawks’ G-League affiliate in Erie, Pa., with averages of 12.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals in 31.4 minutes per game.

Once the Hawks sign Morris, they will have the maximum allowable two players on 10-day contracts for a roster of 14 players. They signed Antonius Cleveland to a 10-day contract Thursday.

The Hawks on Tuesday re-assigned “two-way” contract players Josh Magette and Andrew White to Erie.

It’s after 1 p.m. and I’ve been sitting for 45 minutes on the raised sidewalk outside the old brick bank building at Main and Railroad streets, the historic heart of Toomsboro, Ga. It is quiet. Eerie quiet. The only humans to pass by are the occasional motorist or the drivers of the kaolin trucks that rumble past every couple of minutes...

Woods’ Tour Championship victory likely one of his biggest ever

Tiger Woods wins. Honestly, when he began playing again this season following the medical Hail Mary of spinal fusion surgery, I never thought I’d be typing those three words. Much less seeing him win while turning East Lake into one great green mosh pit. Underestimating Woods, you see, is a fool’s prerogative. His wire-to-wire win at the...

Woods rocks Tour Championship with first win in five years

When that long-awaited, oft-debated and sorely-doubted next win did come for Tiger Woods, it was so deceivingly simple. It required nothing more from him than to be steady while all others at East Lake were losing their minds. Just stand strong in a swirl of the very chaos his presence atop the leaderboard created – you know, be Tiger Woods &ndash...
