Hawks’ Ilyasova set to return from injury

Starter missed past eight games 


Hawks forward Ersan Ilyasova is set to play against the Kings tonight after missing the past eight games because of a bone bruise in his left knee. 

Ilyasova said he participated in a scrimmage with his teammates Tuesday, officially an off day for the Hawks. Ilyasova said he’s “ready to play” after participating in today’s shootaround. 

“I feel much better,” he said. “Condition-wise, maybe a little bit out of shape.” 

Ilyasova had been the starting power forward, but coach Mike Budenholzer said he would play as a reserve against the Kings. The coach said he would decide on Ilyasova’s minutes after consulting with the training staff. 

Ilyasova’s return will boost the team’s depth in the frontcourt. Forward Mike Muscala has missed the past five games because of an ankle injury and center Miles Plumlee (quadriceps) has yet to play this season. 

Muscala is listed as doubtful for the Kings game. 

“Getting Ersan back is really important and hopefully (Muscala) is close behind,” Budenholzer said.
