Rehabbing Braves pitchers Mike Soroka and Anibal Sanchez won’t return for at least another week.

Sanchez, who’s missed over a month with a hamstring injury sustained April 18 during workouts. He made his first rehab start with Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, getting pounded for eight runs across 3-2/3 innings.

“Numbers weren’t good,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said. “Said he felt good, but the numbers weren’t good. He’s going to make another start Saturday in Gwinnett.”

The Braves originally planned for Sanchez to pitch at extended spring training in Florida, but opted to move him to Gwinnett. They expected he would need at least two rehab starts.

While the rotation is accompanied by several moving parts, it’s likely Sanchez returns to the team in a long-relief role.

Sanchez has pitched in three games this season, making two starts, with a 1.29 ERA. He’s struck out 14 and walked six in 14 innings.

Soroka, 20, was placed on the disabled list May 17 with a shoulder strain. The injury isn’t serious, he and the Braves say, and it was more of a precautionary measure.

He played catch for the first time Monday. Snitker said he’s day-to-day, and the team hopes he’s throwing off the mound by the end of the week.

There is no date set for his rehab start, but he’ll make at least one before returning.

The Canadian righty owns a 3.68 ERA in three major-league starts. He’s struck out 15 and walked four in 14-2/3 innings.
