Teheran strikes out nine for first win of season


The Braves bullpen couldn't protect a seven-run lead Saturday. It preserved just a one-run advantage Monday.

Julio Teheran allowed one run over six innings, a rare gem at SunTrust Park, and helped the Braves to a 2-1 win over the Phillies. 

Odubel Herrera homered off Teheran in the first inning, but the Braves righty settled in from there. He struck out nine and walked three while allowing four more hits across the next five innings. 

 The Braves found just enough offense against Phillies ace Aaron Nola. They first scored when Freddie Freeman grounded into a double play with Ozzie Albies at third. Kurt Suzuki's fourth-inning sacrifice fly gave them the lead. 

Shane Carle, A.J. Minter and Arodys Vizcaino combined to allow one hit in the final three innings.
