Second baseman Ozzie Albies exited the Braves’ 8-5 win over the Nationals Friday in the third inning.
Albies sustained a right-hamstring injury after doubling in the first inning. He then stole third and scored on a Freddie Freeman ground out.
The Braves announced he left the game as a precaution.
“He’s OK. The right hamstring was tight,” manager Brian Snitker said. “I saw him when he was on the bases. He amped up that first at-bat. He was all over the place. He felt enough that I didn’t want to take any chances. We’ll just go day-to-day with him, see if we can stay in front of it. I think not pushing him, that’s one of those things where if it goes, that’s a two-month thing. So we’ll try to get him some treatment and stay away from him a day or two and see how he is.”
The 21-year-old All-Star was lifted for Charlie Culberson when his spot in the batting order arrived in the third inning. Culberson later hit a solo homer to extend the lead to 8-3.
Albies has hit .281 with 20 homers and 55 RBIs, earning his first All-Star appearance.
