Markakis, Riley report to Braves camp

Michael Austin Riley was born April 2, 1997 in Memphis, Tenn. The Braves drafted Riley in the first round in 2015 (41st overall) out of DeSoto Central HS in Southaven, Miss. Riley hit 19 home runs in 408 at-bats in 2018, spending most of the season at Double-A or Triple-A. Riley hit 20 homers in 484 at-bats in 2017 at high Single-A and Double-A. All Braves position players are present and accounted for before Wednesday’s reporting deadline. Nick Markakis and Austin Riley arrived at Disney on Tuesday, filling out the Braves’ roster.

Markakis, of course, was re-signed last month and will man right field for a fifth consecutive season. Riley likely won't open the season with the big league club, but should make his major league debut this season.

The Braves’ first full-squad workout is Thursday.
