Jackson DFA’d, Sims recalled from Triple-A

Braves reliever Luke Jackson was designated for assignment Sunday and right-hander Lucas Sims was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett.

The move came a day after Jackson hit a batter and gave up a single in a three-batter stretch to begin a remarkable nine-run eighth inning that gave the Cubs a 14-10 comeback win over the Braves on Saturday in bitterly cold conditions at Wrigley Field.

Jackson has a 13.50 ERA in two appearances, allowing one hit, two runs, two walks (one intentional) and one hit batter with three strikeouts in 1-1/3 innings.

Sims started and pitched four scoreless innings in his only appearance at Gwinnett, giving up three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. The former first-round draft pick from Brookwood High School was 3-6 with a 5.77 in 14 games (10 starts) for the major-league Braves last season.
