Fried shelled in Stripers’ loss Thursday

Braves prospect Max Fried was rocked in five-inning outing for the Gwinnett Stripers on Thursday.

Fried is 1-3 with a 4.88 ERA over six starts for the Triple-A Stripers, who lost to Lehigh Valley to conclude a series sweep. Fried allowed seven runs on nine hits, with two walks, and he struck out two.

Fried threw 81 pitches before leaving after a scoreless fifth.

Relievers David Peterson, Chad Bell and Josh Ravin combined to allow no runs and two hits in four innings, with one walk.

Fried began the season at Double-A Mississippi and made one start before he was promoted to Gwinnett. For the Stripers, Fried has a 1.50 WHIP and opponents are hitting .282 against him. He has allowed 33 hits and walked 14 in 31-1/3 innings.

For the big-league Braves, Fried has made five appearances, four out of the bullpen. He is 0-2 with a 4.09 ERA. In 11 innings, he has allowed nine hits and walked seven, to go with 13 strikeouts.
