Comparing key Braves’ stats: This season and last season


As the Braves’ season winds down, take a look at the statistics of key players. Compare their 2016 numbers to what they are projected to finish with at the end of this season. See which players have improved and which have not. Wednesday’s game is not included in the stats. 

Freddie Freeman

2016: He hit .302 in 2016, with 34 homers and 91 RBIs.
2007 projected numbers: .327 average, 22 homers and 51 RBIs. His power numbers are down due to missing a lot the season because of a broken wrist. 

Ender Inciarte

2016: The center fielder hit .298 with 10 homers and 44 RBIs.

2017: He’s on pace for a .298 average and 13 homers and 57 RBIs. 

Matt Kemp

2016: While playing for the Padres and Braves, he hit. .268 with 35 homers and 108 RBIs. 

2017: Slowed by injuries, he’s on pace for a .290 average, with 18 homers and 63 RBIs.

Julio Teheran

2016: He was 7-10 with a 3.21 ERA

2017: He’s projected to go 9-14 with a 5.02 ERA. 

Mike Foltynewicz

2016: He went 9-5 with a 4.31 ERA.

2017: He’s projected to go 13-12 with a 4.95 ERA.

R.A. Dickey

2016: Pitching for the Blue Jays, he was 10-15 with a 4.46 ERA.

2017: With the Braves, he’s projected to go 10-10 with a 3.98 ERA.

Tyler Flowers

2016: The catcher hit .270 with eight homers and 41 RBIs.

2017: He’s projected to finish at .289 with 14 home runs and 56 RBIs 

Kurt Suzuki

2016: With the Twins, he batted .258 and had eight homers and 49 RBIs.

2017: He’s on pace for a .268 average, with 18 home runs and 50 RBIs. 

Dansby Swanson

2016: After a late-season callup, he batted .302, with three homers and 17 RBIs. 

2017: Playing a lot more games, he’s on pace to finish at .221 with eight homers and 54 RBIs. 

Brandon Phillips

2016: He hit .291 with 11 homers and 64 RBIs for the Reds.

2017: He’s projected to hit .289 with 14 homers and 61 RBIs. 

Nick Markakis

2016: He finished at .269 with 13 home runs and 89 RBIs.

2017: He’s on pace for a .284 average with 10 homers and 82 RBIs. 

Matt Adams

2016: He batted .249 with 16 homers and 54 RBIs for St. Louis.

2017: Playing for the Cardinals and Braves, he’s on pace for a .271 average and 23 homers and 74 RBIs.
