Braves put Soroka back on DL, promote Santana

Mike Soroka just came off his first disabled list stint. He’ll now experience his second.

The Braves placed their prized 20-year-old righty on the 10-day DL with right shoulder inflammation, the same reason he was sidelined before returning against the Mets on June 13.

Soroka made two starts since he was activated. He carried a no-hitter into the seventh against the Mets, but was tagged for four runs in 4-2/3 innings against the Blue Jays on Tuesday. His velocity had dipped into the low-90s later in that outing.

He likely was placed on the DL for precautionary reasons, as he was before.

The Braves promoted utilityman Danny Santana to fill Soroka’s spot. Santana has hit .279 with an .839 OPS in 54 games with Triple-A Gwinnett. He has added 11 homers, already a career-high at any level.
