Braves director of scouting Brian Bridges discusses the organization's draft strategy.

Braves director of scouting Brian Bridges talked to Fox Sports on Tuesday about some of the strategic direction the organization has taken toward this week’s Major League Baseball Draft.

“The most important thing is, when John Coppolella and John Hart walk into the winter meetings, pitching has cache,” Bridges said. “Whether anybody believes it or not, you can turn that into what you need at the Major League level.”

The Braves have been accumulating young pitching talent via the draft and trades at a faster rate than any other organization. The Braves have five pitchers in MLB.com's top 100 overall prospects, more than any other team. The Houston Astros are second with four. The Braves' four National League East division rivals have two combined.

Sean Newcomb, one of the Braves' five highly ranked pitchers, gave up just one earned run with seven strikeouts over 6-1/3 innings in his Major League debut last weekend, and will get at least one more start with the big-league club.
