Atlanta United sets two more MLS attendance records

More than 71,000 tickets were sold and distributed for Atlanta United’s game against Chicago on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, helping Atlanta United set two more MLS attendance records. Sunday’s total of 71,812 is the sixth-highest in Atlanta United’s and the league’s history.

Atlanta United closed its regular season averaging 53,002 in attendance for 17 home games. That average breaks the average attendance record of 48,200 it set last season.

Atlanta United had a total attendance of 901,033 this season in league games. That’s also an MLS record, breaking the mark of 819,404 set by Atlanta United last season.

The total also made it the third-most attended game in soccer during the weekend, trailing the 88,712 for Sevilla at Barcelona on Saturday and the more than 75,000 expected for A.C. Milan vs. Inter Milan on Sunday.
