Why? Gressel, a wingback, scored his first goal this season to give Atlanta United a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. He added an assist on a beautiful cross to Josef Martinez in the 67th minute. It was Gressel’s first goal this season and sixth of his career, and his third assist this season and 12th of his career.
Atlanta United is 3-0 at home and has outscored opponents 12-2.
“It’s our home turf,” Gressel said. “It’s good when you are good at home and keep the points here. You are expected to do that in order to pick up points.
“Teams get a little intimated here and there because of the fans. Then, we are really comfortable on that field.”
