Atlanta United’s Andrew Carleton will captain the MLS players in Tuesday’s Homegrown game against Tigres in Marietta.
Carleton and forward Lagos Kunga are the two Atlanta United players on the Homegrowns, which will be coached by Five Stripes academy director Tony Annan.
Carleton, an 18-year-old native of Powder Springs, has made one start as part of five appearances with Atlanta United this season.
Kunga, 19, has one goal in 17 appearances with Atlanta United 2 this season.
“This week we are just trying to have a good time, play well and represent the league well,” Carleton said.
The Homegrown Game started in 2014. It is designed to showcase the young talents on MLS teams. Earlier this season, a record 11 Homegrown players appeared in the Real Salt Lake game against Dallas. Through 731 games in 2018, Homegrowns players have logged 507 starts and 46,211 minutes with 64 goals scored and 68 assists.
Tuesday’s game will be broadcast on Univision Deportes.
